About Us
The People’s Collection Wales (PCW) is a national digital archive that preserves and shares the diverse histories of Wales. It offers an accessible platform for organisations, community projects and individuals to publish heritage material and tell their stories in their own words. PCW is led by the National Library of Wales, Amgueddfa Cymru, and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.
What do we do?
Alongside our publishing platform, we provide free guidance on every stage of the archival process—from copyright and legal considerations to digitisation and digital curation. This support is available to all projects, organisations and individuals wishing to share their historical material.

Our history
Origins
Since being stablished in 2010, PCW has supported thousands of heritage projects and individuals to share their story and add another layer to Wales' rich social history. We are funded by the Welsh Government and are proud to work alongside a wide range of archives, museums, libraries and community groups to celebrate diversity, identity and inclusion.
The three leading partner organisations are the National Library of Wales, Amgueddfa Cymru, and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.
Relevance
The People’s Collection Wales has an incredibly wide, democratic and inclusive remit, which is to capture and reflect the diverse histories of Wales and its people. This means that apart from a need to relate to Wales, Welsh life or Welsh people, this remit can be interpreted in a myriad of ways.
First and foremost, the Collection aims to empower the people of Wales to collate, curate and present their own histories. It is a dynamic collection in the sense that it is used by, and meaningful to, a wide range of people, which enables different perspectives to be heard and a variety of stories to be told.
By combining institutional and user-generated content, PCW encourages as wide a range of voices as possible to co-create the Collection and determine what is relevant and important, what constitutes the people’s history of Wales. The Collection, as a whole, is of national and international importance precisely because it includes the personal and the regional.
The Team
We are a small team of individuals helping to deliver a digital home for Wales—we bring energy and passion to preserving your stories and memories.
This team is responsible for the technical maintenance and development of the digital platform; for the moderation, training and support offered to users; and for the promotion of the Collection to as wide an audience as possible.
Our years of experience allow us offer bespoke support to any organisation, community project or individual who gets in touch, tailoring our support to your own needs.
