Josef Herman (1911-2000)
Josef Herman was a painter from Poland. As a Jewish refugee from Nazi persecution, he escaped to Britain in 1940. Between 1944 and 1955, he lived in Ystradgynlais, capturing the lives of the mining community in countless drawings and paintings.
