Fire at Barry Dock Offices

On 3rd March 1984 a fire broke out at the Dock Offices in Barry. Built between 1897 and 1900, the building quickly became an important landmark for the town. The 1984 fire was caused by an electrical fault and caused extensive damage to the roof and second floor of the building. In restoring the offices, an exact replica of the iconic clock was made with the addition of an electronic mechanism. Today the restored building is used by Vale of Glamorgan council.
