Barry has a strong and active tradition of bowling, with the three clubs representing the town. Romilly Bowls Club was founded in 1908 and is based at Romilly Park in the south-west of Barry. Barry Central Bowling Club was formed in 1909 and originally based at Central Park, adjacent to King Square before moving in the 1980s to Gladstone Park. In 1911, Barry Athletic Bowls Club was founded, and is based at Barry Island.
