Cogan Pill, now often referred to as Cogan is a community in Penarth. The word 'Pill' comes from the Welsh language for a tidal stream, though in Cogan, this was incorporated into Penarth docks. Landmarks in the area included the bridge and Corbett's Farm before being demolished in the 1960s as the Cardiff and Penarth region expanded.
