Yes I am interested in history, but also my 5th great grandfather Kenrick Peck and some of his descendents lived at Cornish Hall. It is thrilling to see the old place returned to its 17th-century style. I wish I could see your amazing work, but photos will have to do as I live in California. Strangely my dad's people lived at Holt Hall just a mile or so to the northeast! Thank you for posting these amazing photographs for all of us to see! Naturally all this was lost to my family until I started to do some research a few years ago. Ah the power of the internet!

Yes I am interested in history and old stuff, but also my mom's 4th great grandfather Kenrick Peck lived at Cornish Hall. I had seen the old photo of the place complete with its horrid rounded facades, now how wonderful to see the work you folks have done returning it to its 17th-century self. Funny thing is my dad's people lived at Holt Hall which still looks sad. No one in the two families knew this until I started researching family history a few years ago. Ah the power of the internet!

Thank you for sharing these amazing photographs of the what you are doing. I wish I could come and see your work but I live in California so that won't be happening any time soon. I will keep revisiting your internet site for updates.

My ancestors on my father's side lived at Cornish Hall, moving there sometime between 1763-1770. My 4 x g grandfather was Arthur Wilcoxon who came from Alvanley near Frodsham, Cheshire. Why he moved from there I don't know, as the family had lived in the Frodsham area since the 1500's and probably earlier. He had 11 children and Arthur became Mayor of Holt in 1787. My 3 x g grandfather Thomas also farmed there, sharing it with his brother Richard. The farm passed into the hands of the Jessaman family - connected through marriage to the Wilcoxons and the Tomlinson family lived there for many years afterwards.

I know of the Peck family, the oldest record I have is of Jasper Peck's burial in 1688 although they aren't related to the Wilcoxons (as far as I know). I understand that they owned the hall (also sometimes just called "Cornish") so presumably the Wilcoxons would have been tenant farmers.

I have the following records:
1724 15th June. Mary Peck daughter of Jasper of Cornish. Burial
1732 31st March. Jasper Peck Esq of Cornish. Burial
1763 22nd January Mrs Mary Peck of Cornish. Burial
1760 20th April. Mr Richard Leatherwood. Tenant at Cornish. Burial
1770 18th January Samuel Crew Gent of Cornish. Burial

Did Arthur Wilcoxon take over occupancy from Samuel Crew? Did the Wilcoxons share the hall with another family (the Peck's) living in part? I'd love to know. I wonder when the Pecks finally gave up Cornish Hall?

I visited Cornish Hall in 2015 with three of my distant Wilcoxon "cousins" and were kindly shown around it by the new owners who had just started to renovate it. Fascinating!

I am working on a Wilcoxon family website with a section on Cornish Hall. Hopefully it will be published soon.

Like Alta I am also descended from the Pecks at Cornish Hall who originated from Wakefield and Southowram in Yorkshire in early 1400s.
Is it possible to make contact with you Alta?

Peter

On 13th October 1654 John Peck wrote to Sir John Trevor ; 'with what money I had and the money I sold the house for in Cheapside I have paid Mr George Bostock for his house and lands in Holt called the Cornish'; (Flint Record Office GB 208 D-G/179/100).

Palmer in his History of Holt was unsure when Peck purchased Cornish Hall.
