Captain D.J. Lloyd (1851-1927)
Description
David John Lloyd went to sea at the age of 13 having lost his father William Lloyd and brother (also William) in the Great Storm of 1859 on board the "Margaret Lloyd" when he was 8 years old. The ship was named after his mother whose maiden name was Delahoyde and whose father - Richard Delahoyde was the owner of the "Margaret Lloyd" and other ships in Aberystwyth.
Captain D.J. Lloyd retired from the sea and served as Harbourmaster in Aberystwyth from 1907 until his death in 1927.
