Playbill for a benefit evening at the Theatre Royal, Swansea, 7 March 1862

Description

On February 19th 1862 an explosion occurred at Gethin colliery that killed 47 miners. The inquest cast doubt on the conduct of the mine manager, John Moody, although no charges were brought on this occasion.

This benefit concert was held to raise money for the families of the lost miners.
