House group material, 1980s 'Teach me how to pray'

Description

Church members re-instated the idea that was started during the early 1960s when the old church building had to be demolished. Church members had no place of worship whilst the new building was being built, so they met in each others' houses. Elders planned the material that would be discussed during these meetings. They reflect issues that were of concern during the 80s. The prayer in this chapter may be seen as particularly relevant to us today, living with the pressures of social media. "May there be an end to what makes man turn himself into a machine and his life into merchandise, an end to all that makes a man a slave to himself and others. May there be a break with our egoism so that we seek for others what we desire for ourselves"
