Patchwork quilt featuring diamond pattern, c. 1870 [image 1 of 2]

Description

This double patchwork quilt contains around 17,600 hexagons each measuring approx. 2.2 cm across. It is hand stitched and incorporates a great variety of cotton fabrics. The backing fabric is white calico or shiny cotton. There is no obvious quilting. Measures 230 x 270 cms.
