The Story of the Forest, Marion Gertrude Jones.

Description

Marion remembers Esgairgeiliog clearly. She was one of the women that started the Fronfelen Fire and it must still play on her mind as it came up twice during the interview. She must have faced some hostility in the village after this incident--yet she stayed and married a local.
She was actually employed by the Board of Trade and so were many of the forest workers at that time. She explains that the War effort needed big trees, especially oak for the coal mines, and that the forests in the area were not quite established. She also explains what various timbers were used for. [English]
