Checkers Inn, Newtown, c. 1903

Description

The thatched and half-timbered Checkers Inn which stood in Broad Street, Newtown. The attractive old building, seen here on a picture postcard of around 1903, was known locally as the 'Hotel de Straw Hat'. It was sadly demolished in the early 1930s.
