Newcastle Emlyn Coronation Celebrations 1953 - Moelfre Beacon

Description

Bonfire beacons were lit on hills all over Britain on Coronation Eve, June 1 1953.
This group of NC Emlyn scouts carried on alone when their leaders got "cold feet" at the last minute, lit the fire and camped on Moelfre for the night. It was a clear night and the fires made a dramatic sight from our high viewpoint.
Rear L-R: Keith Thomas, Leonard Billings, Robert Jones, Leonard Davies.
Front L-R: Michael Thomas, Timothy Davies, Colin Saunders, John Rees, Penry Williams. Clive Ball, camera.
