Letter from Corporal John Griffith Jones to his brother in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, 10 June 1863 [page 1 of 3]

Description

John has heard that after Vicksburg is taken, they will be able to travel with the prisoners to Madison. He hopes that this is true. The rebels are now waving the white flag so often that the place is overflowing.

They are getting enough soft bread and potatoes, coffee, tea and sometimes plenty of salted or fresh meat.
