Description
The small child stares up at the tips which engulfed Pantglas Primary School, Aberfan shortly after 9am on 21 October, 1966. 144 people lost their lives as the mountain of coal waste from the Merthyr Vale Colliery covered the school, a farm and around a dozen houses and shops. In total, 116 children, mainly between the ages of 7 and 11 lost their lives.
