North Wales farthing, 1793
Description
Pennies like these were minted for the first time because of a shortage of pennies when the Royal Mint ceased production of pennies in 1775. 23 years passed before the Mint restarted producing pennies. In the meantime, pennies such as these were accepted by traders throughout the land.
