Old farm cottage
Description
This old Welsh farm cottage was built about 1820. The plan is typical of the time. To the left of the front door is the large fireplace; to the right, a smaller reception room with a fireplace installed after the cottage was built. There is a staircase up to the loft. At the rear is the llaethdy (dairy). The walls are lime-washed rubble, floors tiled, partly with slate. The slates of the roof are arranged with the smaller slates near the top. A shed, originally a cowshed, adjoins one end.
Nearby is the larger house built by the family in the 1880s.
