Members of the first group of settlers near 'Yr Hen Amddiffynfa', Rawson, Chubut, 28 July 1890 This photograph was taken when Rawson bridge was opened on 28 July 1890. This was also the date of Gwyl y Glaniad', the anniversary of the landing of the first group of settlers in New Bay in 1865. The photograph displays 48 of the 162 emigrants who left Liverpool on the Mimosa. The emigrants came from the following cities, towns and villages (the number of people who came from these places is noted in brackets): Mountain Ash (41), Liverpool (20), Aberdare (19), Rhosllannerchrugog (11), Birkenhead (10), Ffestiniog (10), Bangor (8), Llandrillo (5), Manchester (5), Aberystwyth (5), Anglesey (4), Bala (4), Ganllwyd (4), Llanfechan (2), Bethesda (2), Abergynolwyn (2), Llanfairfechan (2), Caernarfon (2), Denbigh (1), New York (1), Seecombe (1), Tregethin (1), Bridgend (1), Brynmawr (1).
