The Golden Cross Public House is situated at the junction with Customhouse Street, on corner with Hayes Bridge Road, adjacent to the ice rink. It is a brick-built, c1903 (date on tiles in bar), 2-storey building of 6 bays, plus splayed corner bay to right and 2 bays to sides.
Its exterior has red bricks, with yellow pilasters, aprons etc. There are 2 windows with curved heads to each bay on the first floor with single cornice and aprons over and a parapet above. On the ground floor, elaborate tiled pub front with Venetian windows, framed by green, brown and gold tiling with raised lettering to fascias and tiled panelling to pilasters and stall risers.
