Maesydderwen County School trip to Belgium, Easter 1939
Description
A group of boys from Maesydderwen County School, Ystradgynlais, went on an excursion to Belgium during the Easter holidays of 1939. They left on 11 April, crossing from Dover. The following day they visited Ypres, the Menin Gate and the British First World War cemetery at Tyne Cot. On 13th they explored Brussels, and later visited Waterloo, the Dutch border, Bruges and Knokke. The staff accompanying them included Mr Cyril Williams (Maths) and Mr George Jones (English), who is third from the right, in the back of the photograph, wearing a beret. The photograph was taken at the Grand-Place, Brussels, on 13 April 1939.
