The 'Aberystwyth Official Guide and Souvenir' published by the Aberystwyth Corporation in 1924 contains an advert Ward & Co Ltd at this address (38 Great Darkgate Street) and for the Café Oriental. The Café was the largest in town and served lunches, dinner, teas and suppers. The company described themselves as high-class bakers, cooks, confectioners, caterers, and wine merchants. Confectionery was made on the premises and cooked meats of every description was sold.
