The 'Aberystwyth Official Guide and Souvenir' published by the Aberystwyth Corporation in 1924 includes an advert for D. W. Evans, printer and bookseller, at this location. The ship sold maps, guidebooks, view books by leading publishers and picturesque postcards of Aberystwyth. The shop was also the centre for the distribution of publications by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK). The charity was founded in 1689 by Thomas Bray and continues today being the leading publisher of Christian books.
