Photoscoot 2020: former Children's Lake or Sea Bathing Pool, Castle Rocks/South Beach Aberystwyth
Description
South Beach stretches from near the harbour entrance up towards Castle Point where, at low tide, you can see the remains of a the concrete walls of the Victorian bathing pool. The 'Aberystwyth Official Guide and Souvenir' published by Aberystwyth Corporation in 1924 contains a photograph of children running around the walls of the pool with the Naval fleet on the horizon. The catching of sprats and other fish in the rock pools was also popular and is shown in another photograph. The beach was also popular for the variety of rocks and pebbles it contained for Victorian/Edwardian collectors.
