Olive oil tin, c. 1900

Description

There is a mark at the side of the tin which bears the text (from top to bottom) Cwmni Masnachol; Compania Mercantil; Chubut; Y Camwy. There is another mark on the narrow edge which reads 'Marina' and underneath is the word 'Italia', as the oil was imported from Italy.

The Chubut Mercantile Company was established in 1885 with the aim of promoting business and safeguarding the interests of farmers.
