"Mr Hugh Williams from Edern, Llyn has always been interested in using his knife. As a young child at home, his favourite hobby was carving wood. He has dispayed his wooden spoons and bowls many a time at the Royal Welsh Show and this week, Mr Williams, who is 72 years old, came to comptete at the Eisteddfod for the first time. Aberdare valley has always been special to him. He worked there for 43 years - in the coal mine to begin with and then as a gardner at Ystrad Mynach and Abercynon parks."
