Scenes taken on a sunny spring day in the centre of the old town of Merthyr Tydfil, once one of the most important industrial centres in Britain.

The old Town Hall building. Erected in 1896, it is now [1998] a night club.

High Street Baptist Chapel, built in 1841. This image of an early painting of the chapel is reproduced by kind permission of John Eaton who explains, I was given this old picture of a Chapel in Merthyr. It is where my great grandmother was married.

The Scala is now [1998] a snooker hall, but in 1852 it was the Temperance Hall.
