A Forest Walk to the Waterfalls Ystradfellte, Breconshire

Description

Photography by John Ball - 11.00am on 5th March 1998 (with Agfa ePhoto307 digital camera)

Image 1:

On the southern edge of Fforest Fawr, the rivers Mellte, Hepste, Pyrddin, and Nedd flow through wooded ravines and plunge over a series of waterfalls, the highest concentration of falls in Wales. Today, I walked to the Sgwd Clun Gwyn falls on Afon Mellte.

Image 2:

The route to the falls is down this rough track through a coniferous forest.

Image 3, 4:

Because of recent rains, the woodland path became increasingly muddy!!

Image 5, 6:

The first glimpse of Sgwd Clun Gwyn (Image 5) and the full beauty of the falls (Image 6).

Image 7, 8:

At the top of the picture (Image 7) Afon Mellte can be seen approaching the falls. Meanwhile (Image 8) Afon Mellte rushes though the gorge at the bottom of the falls.
