Margaret Jones was born at Rhosllannerchrugog, near Wrexham. She became well known on account of her many trips abroad. She spent long periods in Palestine and Morocco. Her letters to her family from Palestine were published in 1869 under the title 'Llythyrau Cymraes o Wlad Canaan', while her account of her experiences in Morocco, 'Morocco a'r hyn a welais yno' appeared in 1883. She later settled in Australia where she died in 1902.
