This hand-made version of a Swiss weather cottage was collected from an almshouse in Llandovery and probably dates to the early 19th century. The figures would have predicted the weather by moving in and out of the doorways. A bunch of hair would have been attached to the figures and would have lengthened or grown shorter with changes in humidity.
