The Petition Binding had been held within the collections of Wales' Temple of Peace since its opening in 1938; but with passage of time and people, its story had been lost to history until 'rediscovered' in 2014 by WCIA Chief Executive Martin Pollard, whilst preparing material for the Wales for Peace project bid to Heritage Lottery Fund

The 1923 Welsh Women’s Peace Petition, coordinated by the Welsh League of Nations Union, was signed by 390,296 women in a call for America to join and lead the League of Nations, to prevent the outbreak of another war in the aftermath of World War One.

In 1924, a delegation of Welsh women undertook a 'Welsh Women's Peace Tour' across America, meeting president Calvin Coolidge before travelling across the country, garnering support for the appeal. Stops along the way included Washington D.C., Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.
