Two men stand in front of furnaces with piles of coke. The man on the left is Joseph Jones from Carneddau Smithy in Llanrwst, the great grandfather of the donor. The municipal Gas Works was situated off Conway Road in the 1870s and 1880s, under the management of Mr Thomas T Marks, the engineer for the Improvement Commissioners and later Llandudno UDC.
