1941 Oxford Conference of Teachers and Educational Administrators from Allied Countries

Description

From the records of Wales' Temple of Peace, Council for Education in World Citizenship (CEWC), the 1941 Oxford Conference laid the foundations during World War 2 for the development of ideas leading up to the creation of UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation. The 'behind the scenes' consultative work and drafting of UNESCO's consitution on behalf of the Allied Governments was delegated to a committee led by Rev Gwilym Davies of the Welsh League of Nations Union (which became UNA Wales from 1946).
