12th century cooking pot fragment from Nevern Castle

Description

The Norman invaders brought with them the habit of using pottery. Prior to the 12th century, the Welsh preferred stone, metal and wooden utensils.
This fragment of cooking pot is of a type known as Dyfed Gravel Tempered Ware, made in South and West Wales from the 12th to 16th century.
The item was discovered during the series of archaeological digs 2008-2018 led by Dr Chris Caple of Durham University.
