18th century Nit Comb found at Nevern Castle

Description

This bone nit comb was found in an 18th century cottage on the site of Nevern Castle. After the castle burned down in 1196, the site was ploughed and farmed.
The comb has fine teeth and was used for combing nits (the eggs of head lice) out of the hair of both children and adults.
The comb was found during archaeological digs 2008-2018 led by Dr Chris Caple of Durham University.
