The Holocaust and Wales - Episode 1. Life in Europe before the War (Transcript)
Description
In this first episode (available to listen to at https://www.peoplescollection.wales/items/2225671), we look at Jewish life in Central Europe before the Second World War. The stories we will hear are those of refugees who fled to Wales in the 1930s. What were their lives like before they left? How did this change over the course of the decade? And what was the spark – the writing on the wall – that prompted them to flee? The voices you will hear are those of survivors, or their children, recorded as part of oral history interviews taken by CMOP, the JHASW, and Imperial War Museums. It can be used to supplement learning about the Holocaust in schools from Progression Step 4 and beyond. To access our resources for teaching about the Holocaust and Wales, suitable for Progression Steps 3 and 4, go to https://www.peoplescollection.wales/learn/query/holocaust
