This is one of the mural tablets in the Church and commemorates the famous sculptor, John Gibson (1790-1866), who was born at Gyffin. He studied under Canova in Italy. Many of his works are found at Hafod Unos, Llangernyw and the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff. His long term friend and perhaps partner was fellow Welsh artist Penry Williams (1802-1885).
