Roman gable tile from Prestatyn Roman Baths

Description

During excavation at Prestatyn Roman Baths, on Melyd Avenue, various Holt tiles were discovered. Some of the gable end tiles were stamped with a Boar insignia and LEG XX, used by the Twentieth Legion stationed at Chester.
The Romans were mining lead in the Clwydian Range above Prestatyn and used the Dee and Clwyd estuaries to move goods.
This tile, and other artefacts from the bathhouse, are on display at Rhyl Museum
