The Maindee, Newport (west view), 1875

Description

The Maindee was a grand and elegant estate that once stood on Chepstow Road in Newport. Built by John Logan Esq., a prominent railway and canal contractor, the house replaced an earlier mansion that he had cleared to make way for his vision. Later, the property came into the hands of Ebenezer Lewis JP before being sold and ultimately demolished in the early 20th century. This image was scanned from sales particulars.
