Court house Machynlleth
Description
Court house Machynlleth. This is a copy of a postcard by " PARK FOR PEOPLE series Newtown". Posted on the 29th of May 1915. This medieval building in Machynlleth at the end of Maengwyn street formed the Court House of the lordship of Cyfeiliog. It is also referred to as the Mayor's house. A third gable was added later on. The building was taken by Cromwell's Yeomanry, under Sir Thomas Middleton early in November 1644. The heading on the postcard is incorrect as the Owain Glyndwr's Parliament house is further down the street by the Owain Glyndwr Institute.
