Polish 316 Squadron Data Map

Description

This map commemorates the men of the Polish 316 Fighter Squadron – their origins, their tragic fates, and their lasting legacy.

Formed in 1941 at RAF Pembrey, on the coast of Wales, the 316 Squadron (Dywizjon Myśliwski „Warszawski”) was one of several RAF squadrons composed of Polish airmen who escaped the German invasion to continue fighting alongside the Allies. These pilots brought with them not only world-class flying skill but also a fierce determination to liberate their homeland.
Crash sites across Wales where Polish pilots of the 316 Squadron lost their lives in training or operational accidents.
Burial places across the UK, especially military cemeteries and local churchyards where fallen pilots were laid to rest.
Birthplaces in Poland, connecting each airman’s final flight to his origins – the towns and villages he left behind.
