The Annual Fete held in the Vernon House grounds. Bunting was draped around the grounds where St Mary’s Close housing estate is situated now
Stalls at the fete
1. Hoopla to win a goldfish, manned by Mrs Hibben
2. Round the village, manned by Mr Len Shea
3. Cake stall, Mrs Patrician Shea
4. China stall, manned by Mr & Mrs Brython and Maimie Thomas. (The china was sale or return to Shufflebothams store Neath)
5. Fancy goods and haberdashery
6. Bottle stall
Other attractions were:-
Tea tent, lucky dip, horse rides, tug of war, baby competition, fancy dress, karate demonstration.
Also, the Welch Regiment mascot ‘Sospan’ the goat was there for people to enjoy
