NEATH BOROUGH POLICE

A 19th century / Victorian Carte De Visite (CDV) photograph relating to Neath Borough Police which was very kindly donated to the collection. Printed on the front of the photo is - 'P.S. Price' The P.S. probably represents Police Sergeant. The force name collar letters NP (Neath Police) are visible, but partially obscured by his beard, is what is believed to be his force number - 2.
***Information receieved that this is Police Sergeant no. 2 William Price, who served in the Neath Borough Police from 1876 to 1899.
He was born in Llandeilo and was a tinplate packer before he joined the police. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1888.
