The 1911 Census shows Harriet Thickens, a 42 year old widow living in Talwrn with her 13 year old son Wil. In the 1921 Census she is still living in Talwrn and her son Wil, who was working in the Resolven coal mines run by the Cory Brothers, was out of work at the time and had come home for the census. Her daughter's name was also Harriet.
