The seal matrix depicts the image of a bird, likely a dove, holding an olive branch.
The dove and olive branch were popular images in the early modern period, symbolising peace and God’s grace. The image first appears in early Christian art and symbolises the return of hope and forgiveness after the flood in the story of Noah.
