Llantwit Major - Caermead - Roman Villa

Description

This villa, discovered in 1888, is thought to have been occupied by better-off cultured Silurians rather than by Romans. It was built in the 2ndcentury and lasted until the 4thcentury.
The excavations from just before WW2 to just after showed that by the 4thcentury there was an L shaped villa, with fine mosaic floors, and a number of smaller farming structures that more or less enclosed a central courtyard.
