Draft of part of chapter 4 from Professor Archie Cochrane's autobiography of his life in medicine, page 1 [image 1 of 16]

Description

In this chapter Archie reflects on his work up to 1959, focusing in particular on his study of communities in the Rhondda Fach.

On this page, he summarises some of the reasons that his work was so successful - indeed he managed to encourage 89% of the 19,218 inhabitants of the valley to be x-rayed as part of his study.

Archie's autobiography was published as:

A. L. Cochrane and M. Blythe, 'One man's medicine: an autobiography of Professor Archie Cochrane' (The British Medical Journal, London. 1989).
