This photograph shows the scholar, poet and essayist Thomas Parry-Williams (1887-1975), with his motorcycle 'KC 16'. T. H. Parry-Williams was a native of Rhyd-ddu, Caernarfonshire, and was Professor of Welsh at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, between 1920 and 1952. In addition to his scholarly achievements, Parry-Williams was a highly-successful poet and won the National Eisteddfod Chair and Crown in 1912 and 1915. He wrote a number of essays on a variety of subjects, including his motorcycle 'KC 16' - this essay was published in the literary journal 'Y Llenor' in 1922.
