Added to the collection this week, are these two tipstaffs. Both are in the region of 6 inches long.

One has a screw fitted brass crown and end finial. The crown and end finial are fitted together by a central brass shaft which runs top to bottom through the centre of the wooden handle. 

The other has a crown of blackened steel. It is fixed in place and cannot be removed.. Fitted to the base of the wooden handle is a small metal rose device. The Tudor rose is a traditional heraldic symbol.

I would suggest that both are in the region of 200 years old, pre Victorian and date most likely from the period of King George III / George IV or William IV.  They pre-date modern law enforcement and policing as we recognise it today.
