Caroline: Oh you can see where you get it from them…Oh the way he’s dressed and everything. They've all been taught how to use the gun purely for pest control because foxes are rampant up here. Um, and if you don't keep them under control, they just take, they'll come out to the day and take the whole load of chickens and lambs and it's absolutely horrible to see if it's in there.

Caroline: But they've all been brought up how to respect a gun. Your father isn’t it with our children and the grandchildren, he threatened if, you, always respect the gun, even if it's empty, that it's fully loaded, always kept it broken. And he warned them if they would ever, walked with a gun that was loaded or didn't respect it he would break it, and they, you know, they've all respected it, isn’t it? And they can all even the girls learnt how to use the gun. Comes handy sometimes.

Caroline: so that’s Howell’s grandfather. What is his name?
Elenore: Howell.
Caroline: Oh he’s Howell as well? So that's why Howell is named after.
[Edward] Howell: So how far back do Howells go?
Elenore: Oh the eldest one was LLewellyn. Very old names...
[Edward] Howell: Yeah but how far back is the Howells going?
Elenore: There were five cousins. Apparently, and they were all Howells.
Caroline: So, so you've got the grandfather Howell. Yeah, Gwyn was Howell Gwyn. And you are now Edward Howell, Edward is after Nora, his other grandfather. Yeah we've named our eldest Howell Thomas. To keep that Howell name in as well.
Caroline: So he would have been born roughly 1900, wouldn’t he?
Elenora: Somewhere around there
Caroline: Yes, because mam-gu was 1906…
Elenora: Yeah, around 1906 or 1909 mam-gu was born
