Andromeda by Gillian Brownson for Cyser y Sêr
Description
'Andromeda' by Gillian Brownson
Produced by Adverse Camber as part of the Cyser y Sêr collection
This story, told across millennia, and presented here for Welsh speakers, still flickers in the night sky. Andromeda's story is literally given to Galaxy M31, which is visible all year round, but especially clear in autumn and winter skies over the Northern Hemisphere.
You can trace her entire Epic story in the surrounding star-fields:
- There is Andromeda herself, the girl chained to the cliff edge.
- Her mother, Cassiopeia, the seated queen who brought terror upon the land when she offended Poseidon.
- King Cephus, the father in his house, who sought advice from the Oracle, and took the decision to chain his daughter to the cliff, as a sacrifice to Poseidon.
- Cetus, the sprawling sea monster, sent by Poseidon to punish the Queen and her realm
- Perseus, the hero who would stop the monster and pledge his love for Andromeda.
- Pegasus, Perseus' winged horse
